As I mentioned in various sources earlier this afternoon, refused to UCLA junior forward Reeves Nelson of the team by coach Ben Howland this morning.
The 6 feet 8 Nelson - top scorer in Bruins' top and rebounder last year (13.9 PPG and RPG 9.1) - was serving his second suspension this season when Howland expelled from the team this morning. Nelson comments are the result of "unruly behavior". (After having served his suspension early this season, Nelson missed the trip to Maui Invitational).
This season, Nelson has been sporadic, in part, to a large extent benchings frequent and comment: it amounted to 5.7 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game. It will be interesting to see how it affects the Bruins sacked - he was a negative distraction that contributed to the University of California at the beginning of 2-5 (win and only one was more of a team de), or will be expelled more than just a distraction? Howland said in a statement: "We hope that this would be something of a unified team."
